Ex-Man Utd star may come back to EPL – Aston Villa and Everton are favourites to sign him

  • Former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic who joined Inter Milan two summers ago is free to leave after failing to make a single appearance on the field throughout the season due to a herniated disc.

With age catching up for the 34-year-old Serbian, he has been struggling with injuries lately. The Serie A giants are eager to off-load their defender in January and sign a new replacement.

Amidst this, there are rumours that Vidic maybe heading back to the premier league, though certainly not to Old Trafford. Both Everton and Aston Villa are eager to sign the veteran in the January transfer window.

Martinez is looking for a defensive cover in Vidic as he may have to reluctantly sell John Stones, who has attracted interest from both Manchester United and Chelsea.

Vidic joined United team in 2006 and helped the club win five Premier League titles, the Champions League and three League Cups during his stay and left for Italy for a “new challenge”.

Aston Villa boss Remi Garde has a huge responsibility this time with the club languishing in the bottom of the premier league table and is looking to recruit players who would lift the team above relegation.

The Aston Villa defence is quite shaky and none of the players have stepped up their performance even after recent drubbings.

They have conceded a staggering 30 goals in 16 matches indicating that their defence needs to be enhanced.

One reason for Villa’s pathetic run is the loss of important players like Christian Benteke, TomCleverley, Ron Vlaar in the last summer.

The inexperienced replacements didn’t match up to the required expectations and the transfer committee was blasted by fans.

The battle of relegation can be solved by an experienced player like Vidic is what Villa believes at this stage while Everton would look to bring him as a cover to John Stones.
