After a decent start to the season, Arsene Wenger’s campaign at the Emirates has hit a block since the turn of the year as they have failed to find any consistency in almost two months now.
They have lost some precious ground in the points table, and are now in the 4th place, 10 points off Chelsea at the top of the table. Though they are active in the FA Cup, they are all but out of the Champions League and Wenger will know that they will have to shift their focus on the to the league to qualify for the elite competition yet again next season.
The Gunners however, have already started to plan for life next season and have been looking at some of the best players in Europe.
They have been linked to some big names recently but Wenger is now more worried about the futures of the stars at the club.
German playmaker Mesut Ozil and Chilean star Alexis Sanchez are both in the final few months of their contract with the club but are yet to put pen to paper.
And this has seen both players linked with an exit, with Sanchez making the headlines.
The 28-year old has been in sizzling form this season, having been used as a false-9. He has 17 goals to his name in the league alone and is one of the most productive players in front of goal not just in England but also in Europe.
However, he has been visibly unhappy with the progress his side has made since his move to London and is now ready to leave the club this summer.
The likes of Real Madrid, Juventus and PSG are looking to make a move for him this summer but reports from Starsport claims that Spanish outfit Sevilla are now frontrunners for his signature.
Having already played in the La Liga with Barcelona, Sanchez will be more than happy to get back to a league where he has previous experience.
To add to it, Sanchez will also be tempted to have a reunion with Jorge Sampaoli, who helped the Chilean national team to some majo0r honors in the last few years.
Sanchez has worked under Sampaoli for a long time now and known everything about him and it is understood that this might be enough to lure him to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium this summer.
The Spanish outfit have a decent chance of moving into the quarter-finals of the Champions League while are placed in the 3rd place in the points table, with a decent chance of qualification for the elite competition next season.
Sanchez will not be available on the cheap but if Sampaoli can get the Sevilla owners to spend big, he might just be able to make the biggest coup of the summer.
Do you think Alexis Sanchez will move to Sevilla this summer?
