Chelsea have confirmed that full-back Filipe Luis have signed for Atletico Madrid on a four year deal affter just one year at Stamford Bridge. The 29-year old had joined the Blues last season from Atletico Madrid last season but failed to break into first team as Mourinho left unconvinced.
Chelsea have released an official club statement confirming the transfer of Filipe Luis to his former employers. The deal is believed to be worth around £16 million. The player made 26 appearences for the Blues last season as they have won both Premier League and Capital One Cup double.
Atletico sporting director, Jose Luis Perez Caminero, said: “We all know Filipe Luis. We strengthen ourselves with one of the most talented wingers in the world.”
“He already knows our club and our way of playing so he will adapt quickly.”
The Brazilian has joined Atletico back in 2010 and have won La Liga, Copa del Rey, Europa League and two European Super Cups during his first spell with the club.
Chelsea are expected to signa left back to replace Filipe Luis and FC Augsburg’s 20-year sensation Abdul Rahman Baba is tipped to be favorite to sign for the Blues in the coming days.
Rahman reportedly willing to move to Chelsea only if he gets assurances form Jose Mourinho over regular playing time. The player is equally good on both offense and defensive fronts.
Chelsea are also linked with Galatasaray’s full-back Alex Telles if they fail to bring in Rahman Baba this summer.
