Former Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa have signed a one-year contract with West Ham United, the club has confirmed.

The world-cup winner and two-time Champions League winner has left Spanish giants Real Madrid will now wear No.5 shirt for the upcoming season and will add much needed experience for West Ham defense.
“I am really happy to be here in a great Club in a great league,” Arbeloa told West Ham TV.
The 33-year earlier played for Liverpool and could use his experience to guide the young crop of defenders at West Ham and could be a useful cover for boss Slaven Bilic.
“I’m really happy to be back in England and, for me, it’s a great chance and I’m looking forward to playing with this side.
“The Stadium is amazing. It’s really nice and looks fantastic. Hopefully I’m going to see the Stadium full with all our fans and I’m really happy to be here.”For me, this is a great chance to be back in England and in the Premier League, which is a fantastic league and I want to put myself here again. This is a big Club and a great Club with fantastic players and a great coach.
“Slaven wants to see me training as soon as possible. I was talking with [Croatia internationals] Luka Modric and Matteo Kovacic and they told me good things about the coach, so I want to work with him and hopefully I can learn a lot of things.”
The 33-year old have made 98 appearances for Liverpool during his time at Anfield and then moved to Real Madrid and won two Champions League titles with the Spanish giants. However, his last season was hampered with injuries as he made just nine appearances across all competitions for Real Madrid. The player and club agreed to part ways in May and West Ham have managed to sign him on the deadline day.
