Liverpool have announced the signing of Alberto Moreno from Sevilla in a £12million deal.

Liverpool conceded 50 goals last season more than any other side in the top 5 of the Premier League and Rodgers was surely looking to strengthen his defence this summer. Moreno, 22, was on Liverpool’s radar after an impressive season with Sevilla. The Spainish international was part of Sevilla’s Europa League winning side. Rodgers wanted Moreno to replace Aly Cissokho, after deciding not to sign him permanently.Liverpool completed a £12 m deal for Alberto Moreno this week and can prove to be a bargain for this price.

After signing for Liverpool, Moreno told the official Liverpool website that former Liverpool player Xabi Alonso told him to sign for Liverpool.

Alberto Moreno: “In my view, Liverpool are the best club in England and I couldn’t waste an opportunity to come and play for them.

“I spoke with Xabi Alonso, Pepe Reina and Alvaro Arbeloa and they told me this is a spectacular club whose fans follow it in a very special way.

“They all told me I can grow a lot here as a footballer as this is a massive club. I’m very happy to be joining a club as big as Liverpool. I hope to give my best and do all I can to help.”

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers spoke of his delight after signing Alberto Moreno and he feels Moreno can challenge for a spot in the starting XI right now.
