Oldest La Liga footballer announces retirement

Las Palmas (Spain), May 8 (IANS) Las Palmas midfielder Juan Carlos Valeron, the oldest player in La Liga, has announced he will retire at the end of the season at age 40.

Valeron said on Saturday that the end of his career was “fantastic” after his side promoted to La Liga last season and secured competing in the same league next season, reports Efe.

Valeron played more than 400 games in La Liga with the shirts of Real Mallorca, Atletico Madrid, and Deportivo La Coruna. He debuted and ended his career with Las Palmas.
