Scholes reveals his star studded wish list for summer, wants two Real Madrid stars

Like almost every big team in the Premier League, Manchester United also have a very important summer ahead of the end of this season.

Current manager Louis van Gaal has used up all his free passes and will surely lose his job if the club fails to qualify for the Champions League next season. This will leave the Old Trafford franchise with a new manager and groups of players with good potential.

And while the spotlight is on the Dutch manager, club legend Paul Scholes in a recent interview opened up about his wish list for the summer.

Speaking to United We Stand, the 41-year old urged the Red Devils to make deals for three superstars in world football.

Recognizing the lack of control in midfield for LVG’s side, Scholes felt that a high-quality midfielder who can pull the strings in the midfield is missing.

He revealed that Real Madrid star midfielder Luka Modric would be a perfect suit for the Old Trafford franchise. “I’d like Luka Modric. How old is he now? Might be a bit too old, but he’s a great player,” he said.

The Croatian international has assumed an important role in the Los Blancos midfield over the last two seasons and will not be easily priced away from Madrid.

He is also 30 years old and is not a long-term solution for the problem at Manchester United at the moment.

The second player on Scholes’ trio is another Real Madrid star Raphael Varane. The French international has been in sublime form for both club and country and is widely expected to take over the center of the Madrid defense from Sergio Ramos after his retirement.

Scholes felt that United needed someone of his caliber and went on to mention that he might not be realistic with his wish list.

“I like Raphael Varane,” he said.

“I said realistic and I’m picking Real Madrid players?” he added.

The last player on his wish list was the French talent Paul Pogba. Pogba who was at Old Trafford as a budding footballer was left to leave the club to join Juventus by Sir Alex Ferguson who felt that he was not good enough for the Premier League.

But after a few season, Pogba has turned into one of the best players in Europe and was nominated for the Ballon d’Or trophy earlier this year.

“We probably need a centre-forward but there’s not too many of them about so I’m going to say I’d like us to bring Paul Pogba back,” Scholes added to complete his wish list.

It is hard to interpret Manchester United chasing any of these players but if they can land any one of them, they will have done a pretty decent job of improving their squad from the current one.

Do you think any of these three players will play at Old Trafford next season?
