In a bid to make a perfect preparation against the fancied Atletico De Kolkata (ATK) at its home ground, Salt lake Stadium in its next crucial tie, the former World Cupper and current coach of FC Pune City, David Platt had a hurricane one-day trip to Kolkata. And the reason behind his tour was to watch ATK against FC Goa in Sunday’s match. FC Pune City will be playing against ATK in the latter’s next match on 27th November.
Platt who had an inimitable goal from a brilliant header off a Paul Gascoigne perfect centre in the 1990 World Cup quarterfinal, revealed that he was impressed by Ian Hume’s hard working movement outside the top box and he was also impressed by Indian goalkeeper, Amrinder Singh. Platt who also had praise for fanatic crowd at the Salt Lake Stadium looked a little bit surprised by too much defensive attitude shown by the ATK in the match.
And he gave hint that Borja Fernandez, the Spanish midfielder of ATK was the key man in the team’s midfield and the team also can launch excellent moves through the flanks by the wing backs. Platt said before leaving Kolkata on Sunday night, “The most important thing I found in the team was that the wing backs are doing back tracks nicely to help the defenders when opposition team is going on attacks.”
