English Premier League’s player and manager of the month for august has been announced.
Every team played four games in the opening month of the August and on the basis of performance, the winners have been announced.
Swansea City’s new signing Ghana international Andre Ayew has bagged the Player of the Month. He joined the Welsh side this summer on a free transfer after his contract with Olympique de Marseille and started in the new league in a nice fashion with three goals and one assist in four games.
A six-man shortlist was announced as nominees for the prestigious award which included his Swansea City teammate Bafetimbi Gomis, Manchester City stars David Silva and Aleksander Kolarov, Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez and Manchester United defender Chris Smalling but Ayew bagged the award ahead of other five.
Meanwhile, Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini was voted as the Manager of the Month ahead of other nominees Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri and Swansea City manager Garry Monk.
The Chilean lead his side to win all the four games this season and they have scored 10 goals in the process and conceding none. City were dominant throughout last month, most impressively beating champions Chelsea 3-0 at home on matchday two to signal their early intent for a third Premier League title in five years.
Cityzens who made some big signings this summer in the form of Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Otamendi, are sitting at the top of the table with 12 points from four games.
