With Champions League a guarantee next year, the manager will have to improve on the depth of his squad and will have to bring in some new talent that will take no time to adjust to the style of play at White Hart Lane.
And it is understood that Pochettino has his eyes set on a transfer target for summer already.
According to sources, the Spurs have sent out a scout to watch Marseille star Michy Batshuayi in action on Friday.
The Footballinsider revealed that Tottenham have now joined a number of elite clubs in Europe in a race to sign the forward this summer.
Though they have the likes of Harry Kane in their armory, Pochettino wants to add to his attacking options and is in the market for a striker. West Brom’s Saido Berahino is understood to be at the top of the wish-list but Batshuayi will be a valuable addition to the squad.
This saw the manager send scouts for the game between Marseille and Rennes at the Stade Velodrome on Friday night and it was reported that he caught the eye of the Premier League side with a good performance.
The likes of Arsenal, Everton and West Ham are all after the striker in the summer and rated at just 15 million euros, it is not hard to understand why Batshuayi is on the radar of many top European clubs as well.
The Belgian national has scored 18 goals in 41 games in all competitions for the French outlet and has scored 13 goals so far in the domestic league.
He is in some sublime form and will surely improve any team he walks into and is understood to be a fan of the Premier League making this move to London a possible scenario in the summer.
However, it is still a long way from happening as the Spurs’ manager revealed that he wants to keep an eye on the 22-year old and check how he performs at different times and in difficult matches.
