Massive: Arsenal superstar demands huge pay rise, talks of a new contract dealt big blow

The Champions League campaign has not gotten off to a bad start for Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal as they managed to rescue a point from a game they went behind in 42 seconds.

The manager will be revealed that his troops stuck it out and found a much-needed equalizer but the who game was one that the manager will want to forget about.

The fans would also be a bit a disgruntled after their team’s performance on the night and recent reports will only make it worse for the Gunners.

Arsene Wenger, who has been busy for a while now, trying to tie his star players down with long-term contracts was dealt a huge blow today.

Star Chilean international, Alexis Sanchez has asked for a huge pay rise to sign a new contract according to reports from the Trasnsfermarketweb.

The 27-year moved to Arsenal from Barcelona back in 2014 and has ever since grown on to be one of the most influential players for Arsenal and one of the best in the world.

He recently helped his national team to a Copa America victory and has established himself as one of the most effective players in Europe at the moment.

He is easily the best player for Arsenal in the previous season (alongside Mesut Ozil), and is getting into the best years of his career.

There is now doubt that he will take the Emirates outfit to greater heights but his future is now in jeopardy after talks of a contract extension have stalled for a while now.

However, it is revealed today that Sanchez is holding out on a pay rise of at least £35,000 per week.

The 27-year old is currently one of the highest earners in the club at £140,000 per week is now demanding a weekly wage of £175,000 to sign a new contract with the Gunners.

The Gunners are not known to be one of the bigger spenders in Europe and it is understood that these new wage requirements may actually see Arsene Wenger put Sanchez for sale next summer.

The Chilean is contracted with the club till 2018 and if he ends this season without extending his contract, Wenger will have to let him go or risk selling him on a free the year after.

However, the wage demand is not out of line in the current inflated transfer market. Sanchez proved his worth recently with an equalizer against PSG in their first Champions League game and if Arsenal need such quality in their squad for a longer time, they will have to succumb to his requirements and increase his wage to sign him on a longer term.

Do you think Arsenal should give in to Sanchez’ wage demands or sell him next summer?
