A lot of Premier League clubs are showing interest and are on high alert as David Villa recently revealed he could move on loan as New York City’s failure to seal a berth in the MLS playoffs. His former club Barcelona also lining up for a possible loan to reunite with their star player.
The 33-year-old Spaniard, now playing with Chelsea legend Frank Lampard for the MLS team, is free until next year’s March after it became impossible for New York City to finish in one of the top league positions.
Villa revealed he is hearing a lot of proposals for a temporary transfer and told: ‘I’m getting calls from all over the place since it became mathematically impossible for us to make the play-offs.
‘There’s a lot of speculation about the possibility of a loan.
‘There are rumours I’m hearing from lots of people, but nothing is concrete.’
The former Barcelona man has been plying his trade in the US since 2014 after a single season stint with Atletico Madrid following three trophy-laden campaigns donning the Barcelona jersey.
For the fact, Villa is Spain’s all-time top scorer with 59 goals in 97 appearances.
