Fiorentina’s out-of-favour midfielder Mario Suarez is a target for 2 Premier League clubs, Liverpool and Watford, even though the 29-year-old moved to Florence just 6 months ago. The Spanish international arrived from Atletico Madrid, but has struggled to win a first-team place under coach Paulo Sousa so far this season, having only made eight starts across all competitions.
According to Gazetta dello Sport, Suarez currently has offers from Liverpool and Watford on the table, and as a result he has been left out of the squad that faces Torino on Sunday. He has been excluded so that he can evaluate the 2 offers and make a decision within the next 72 hours.
Another factor that makes Watford favourites is manager Quique Sanchez Flores. Flores managed Mario Suarez during his tenure at Atletico Madrid and a reunion could be on the cards. Flores might not have said anything about signing the player but he did confess his “love” for Suarez.
“He has the kind of qualities I love,” Flores said. “He plays good football, understands the position of midfield, he’s positive and energetic. I know him, but I don’t like to talk about the players who don’t belong to our squad. I don’t like to talk about players who, at the moment, are not in the squad. I love good players but a player who is not here, I prefer not to talk about.”
Prior to the surprising resurgence of Francis Coquelin, Arsenal were heavily linked with the defensive midfielder. The Gunners needed a defensive midfielder last January but ruled out any move for the midfielder
Arsenal have since found to defensive midfielders in Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny and it is difficult to see Arsenal make a move for him now.
