Doubts over the ability to offer proper guidance to the footballers by their Spanish coach Antonio Habas seem to have been raised by the footballers of Athletico De Kolkata (ATK) after their miserable defeat in the ISL match at the hands of North East United on Friday at Guwahati.
The footballers, although reluctant to be mentioned by their names, seem to be unhappy with the way the coach is maneuvering them from the beginning of the League.
A senior footballer, speaking on condition of anonymity from Guwahati on Saturday, “We are confused with his strategy and instruction. We are being able to realize that the team lacks a quality passer in the midfield. The forwards looked jaded after being continuously deprived of quality passes. Still the coach is not giving stress on the team’s midfield composition.”
The Kolkata team conceded two consecutive defeats in the League and now is languishing with only seven points so far. Habas has been put under questions on another reason that despite having trained in Madrid for more than one month, several footballers like Jewel Raja, Elder Poschiga of ATK have been ruled out of the League due to injuries.
One of the team management’s senior executives commented on the occasion, “We are surprised to have watched our footballers’ poor fitness level and tiredness.”
It has been learnt that the team’s senior executives have decided to make a discussion with their Spanish coach after the team will take its next ISL match at home on 29th October.
