Newly appointed Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez suggests that Sergio Ramos will be staying at the club this season putting an end to all the speculations regarding his transfer to Manchester United.

Sergio Ramos initially had some problems with the club officials over his new contract deal, and Manchester United were heavily linked with the unhappy defender.

Nonetheless, Benitez made it clear that the Los Blancos have no intention of selling Sergio Ramos.

Speaking to reporters in Australia ahead of a pre-season encounter, the Spanish manager said: There is a lot of talk about his [Ramos’] situation. For me he is an enormous professional. He applies himself and does everything that the team and I ask.

The president [Florentino Perez] has already commented that he is staying with the club.

Rafa Benitez clearly pointed that Real Madrid defense was vulnerable last season and conceded many goals. In order to reconstruct the backline and improve the performance he would require the 29-year-old’s experience in the squad.

He further Opined: I have spoken to him at length in the summer about his ideas and his future.

I see Sergio as an integral part of our team. He is a winner and that is what we need in our team.

Meanwhile Benitez also spoke about goalkeeper David De Gea. He said: De Gea is not our player at the moment and that is not our subject at the moment.

We have some great goalkeepers here at Real Madrid. Navas is our number one at the moment. I have spoken to him. He is more experienced than our other keepers so he is at the front.

Real Madrid at present are heavily linked with Kiko Cassilla who could replace departing captain Iker Casillas.
