Former Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti’s agent is “99%” certain that Rafael Benetiz will be Los Blancos next coach after his client got sacked yesterday. After lots of speculation over the last few weeks, Real Madrid have sacked Carlo Ancelotti and club president Florentino Perez announced the time has come for a “change of direction”.
Real madrid went trophyless this season as they have perfomed below par in La Liga, Copa Del Rey and Champions League. The team have managed to win UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup as they have won Champions League last season.
Rafael Benetiz, currently Napoli coach, has emerged as favorite to replace Carlo Ancelotti as he would become 13th coach of Real Madrid since 2003. The agent of Ancelooti has confirmed in an interview that “Benítez is 99% sure to go to Real.”
He reiterated the intentions of Carlo Ancelotti as the Italian already confirmed he would take a year long rest if he faces a sabbatical.
“As of right now, Ancelotti wants to take a year’s break. That’s his intention. At Real Madrid you can be sacked if you don’t win any trophies in a season.”
Real Madrid president Perez said in a press conference on Monday night to announce Ancelotti’s departure: “Next week, we will know the name of the new manager of Real Madrid. With our great team, talent and hard work, we will be able to give satisfaction and happiness to our fans and our members.
“The affection that the players and the fans have for Carlo is the same as the affection I myself have for him. What did Ancelotti do wrong? I don’t know. The demands here at Real Madrid are very high.”
