Mohammed Rafique was surprisingly the main attraction in Athletico De Kolkata (ATK) training on Friday evening at Salt lake Stadium.
The East Bengal striker who was abandoned by Antonio Lopez Habas in the beginning of this season, however looked nonchalant with the praise and applauds, being showered on him in last couple of days he has joined the team’s training.
He only said, “I have played for the team in the last season. So, it will not be difficult to adjust this season.” Habas who generally avoids appreciating any footballer also looked in a mood to offer praise for Rafique after Friday’s training. He said” Rafique is an opportunistic striker. So we will be benefitted from his presence.”
ATK which will play against North East United at Salt Lake Stadium today will have to spend anxious moments as they will not get service of Xavi Lara, the man who feeds his strikers from the midfield.
Although, ATK is getting Arnab Mondol and Izumi Arata back into its squad. But Habas who has asked his footballers to earn three points from today’s match, looked also worried as he is aware of North East United’s former Venezuela coach Cesar Farius’s ability to imply variations on his defensive strategy.
In the previous outing ATK lost to North East United, surrendering to Farius defensive strategy.
