Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has made a personal call to Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal to ask for patience over a summer move for the Spain international, as per Spanish magazine Don Balon.

The report says the World Cup winner is still keen to leave Santiago Bernabeu and join the Red Devils.

Manchester United have been linked heavily with the Spanish 29 year old versatile defender but after the departure of Iker Casillas to FC Porto, Ramos has been announced as captain of the Los Blancos and it seemed that this would hold him from leaving the 10 time European champions.

But Don Balon claimed thatRamos told van Gaal  that Madrid president Florentino Perez has delayed any deal in order to manage fans unrest after the departure of the legendary stopper, according to the report.

Furthermore, Don Balon claim that the Real Madrid superstar is ‘absolute’ in his intentions to leave and has made this clear to Van Gaal.

Louis Van Gaal is keen to reinforce his defence ahead of the start of this season and Nicolas Otamendi was the defender they targeted for that reinforcement.

But the availability of the star Spanish defender is delaying them from signing the Argentine commanding centre back from Valencia.

Manchester United suffered due to their defence last season as they were fourth in the Premier League in making defensive errors behind Everton, Liverpool, and Nwcastle.

No fixed center-back pair played for them and the arrival of Ramos will not only solve that problem but will give them a leader in defence.

Manchester United have done brilliantly in this transfer window with four high profile signings in the form of Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinstieger and Morgan Schneiderlin and the business for them is not finished yet.

United fans will be hoping that they remain to rock the transfer window and capture the Spanish defender to challenge for the title next season.
