Liverpool will need to spend a massive €80million to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, according to the reports.
The 22-year old is arguably one of the best midfielders in German league last season and drew interest from numerous big clubs across Europe including Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Liverpool.
Keita has scored 8 goals and managed 8 assists in 31 Bundesliga appearances last season. His spectacular form for Leipzig in their maiden Bundesliga season meant that the newcomers managed to finish runners-up to Bayern Munich in Bundesliga and qualified for next season’s Champions League.
According to German newspaper Bild, Leipzig are willing to sell Keita for around £70million which is almost £20million more than what the Reds are currently offering.
Jurgen Klopp is keen to land Keita as he can play as a playmaker in central midfield as well as a defensive midfielder for the club. He has all the attributes to be successful in the Premier League as he outfoxed some of the big stars in the league to make it to the Bundesliga Team of the year last season.
However, if Reds are ready to make a deal for Keita this summer they will be breaking their own transfer record for the second time this summer after signing Mohamed Salah for a massive £36.9 million last week.
The signing will also be the second most expensive one in the league which will be only next to Paul Pogba’s world record move to Manchester United last summer.
Liverpool management are ready to spend big this summer and Klopp is ready to strengthen the club’s squad going into the next season. They will be making a comeback into Champions League after finishing fourth last season in the Premier League.
The Reds have lost on Virgil van Dijk after pulling out in a massive transfer deal and the German manager is set to make the signing of Keita a priority for the next season. His box to box abilities would help Liverpool immensely as the club do not have a quality central midfielder in their roster.
