Real Madrid star defender is considering a move to Stamford Bridge next summer, according to Daily Mirror.
The 33-year old is still one of the best defenders in Europe and is currently into his final year of his contract at Bernabeu.
Pepe is keen to renew his contract but the talks have recently fallen out as the club is keen to offer him only one year deal while the player is interested in being at the club for at least another two seasons.
Chelsea, on the other hand, is still looking for potential defensive reinforcements as they failed miserably in landing good defenders this summer.
The signing of David Luiz and Marcos Alonso came out of desperation on deadline day as they were running out of time. Antonio Conte is looking for good defenders across Europe as he looks to strengthen his defense for his new system.
The Blues have been linked with a number of defenders across Europe throughout the summer but have failed to land any of their desired targets. Conte is keen to make early roads into the market as he looks to get the targets he aims for before his rivals.
Pepe would fit the bill perfectly as he would provide experience to the Blues defense which had looked woeful in the recent weeks in the absence of John Terry.
The 33-year old would be a free agent next summer and could be the ideal replacement for Terry for a short term future. He has won Euro 2016 with Portugal and Champions League with Real Madrid last season and is still one of the elite defenders in Europe despite his age.
