As per the latest report from Telegraph, Liverpool are to receive a huge blow in their pursuit to sign German international Marco Reus as Real Madrid have joined the race to sign him. The Reds are considered favorites to sign the talented forward with the money they got from Sterling’s sale to Manchester City.
Liverpool’s manager Brendan Rodgers has been plotting a £46million deal for the 26-year-old but reports suggest that Real Madrid are way ahead of the competitors for Reus including their arch rivals Barcelona.
The German has been heavily linked with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona over the last one year. Reus have signed a new contract last December but is looking to move away with Jurgen Klopp parting ways with the club after a seven year spell at Signal Iduna Park.
He scored 11 goals in 29 appearances during the 2014/15 campaign despite long lay offs due to injuries. Dortmund have failed to qualify for Champions League next season and have only managed to secure Europa League spot as they finish No.7 in Bundesliga after a dismal first half of the season when they were battling relegation.
The 26-year old has picked up another injury yesterday during a training session in pre-season but the confirms that the injury will not be a long lay off. The official statement read: “Marco Reus has a slight ligament problem. It’s nothing serious.”
