After their 10th Champions League trophy, Carlos Ancelloti and Real Madrid had a barren season last year. They started well last season but lost their way towards the end as they crashed out of the cup’s and then lost to Barcelona the League title. This made the owners take severe action as they replaced the manager with Rafa Bentiez from Napoli. Fans will now be praying that the new manager can settle the disruptions in the team and take them to another title in the new season.

We in this article will take a look at the Squad of Real Madrid and try to ascertain the best team that Rafa Benitez will want to play so as to get his team back on the path to glory.

Defense

After Iker Casillas moved on to Porto, Madrid bought in Kiko Casillas but Keylor Navas may just edge him out and start most of the games next season. In defense, Ramos and Pepe will start as the central defenders. Varane will be waiting for any opportunity to prove himself in front of the fans. Marcelo has been an important part of Madrid’s plans last season and his ability with the ball makes him a sure starter next season.

Arbeloa seemed to have wanted to leave the club but with him staying back, the manager will have to decide between him and the new arrival Danilo along with Coentrao on the flanks. All in all, they have a well settled back line and will want to have a good season up ahead.

Mid-field

The mid-field of the club has some talented players. Toni Kroos taken from Bayern and Luka Modric have been electric last season as both of them opened defenses of many clubs in Europe. They complement each other and provide a bit of solidarity in the mid field. Illaramendi may start for the team if the manager feels that the club needs a bit more defensive stabilty.

Lucas Silva is also one player that the manager will want to slowly include into the scheme of things. The mid-filed of the club is well sorted out and they will want their players to be at their best when the season starts.

Attack

Javier Hernandez had an unsuccessful spell as a striker with Madrid and now they are back to Benzema in front of goal. Christiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, the costliest players in football will play on either side of the big French forward. These three have shown good chemistry in front of goal and the success of the club will largely depend on their form.

Just behind the three, James Rodriguez will also play an important role and acts as the link between the mid-filed and attack for the club. He has a smart head on his shoulders and makes goal scoring look easy. Cheryshev and Jese along with Isco will play as back-ups for the four attacking players at the club.

The new chapter in Bentiz’s career will start in the last week of August and the will want to start of on a right note. He will have to get the best out of his squad and think quickly if he wants to be successful at the club.
