Former Preston, Everton and Manchester United manager David Moyes, who was sacked by the Red Devils earlier this year as a result of continues run of poor performances at Old Trafford has replaced Jagoba Arrasate as the manager of Real Sociedad. Arrasate was dismissed by Sociedad after a poor run of form in La Liga where they are currently in the 15th position.

The Scot, who replaced Sir Alex Ferguson at United has signed a contract till June 2016 and will take charge for the Spanish outfit when they face Deportivo on 22 November.

Sociedad announced the appointment late on Monday in a statement on their website. “Real Sociedad have reached an agreement with David Moyes. Details about the official presentation of Real Sociedad’s new coach and who will form part of his technical team will be published tomorrow [Tuesday] morning.” it said.

Moyes becomes the fourth Brit to manage the club. The other three managers from Britain to manage Sociedad are Henry Lowe (1930-1935), John Toshack (1999-2002) and Chris Coleman (seven months July 2007).

Although Sociedad are 15th in La Liga, they have won only two matches this season. First against table toppers Real Madrid earlier in the season and second win against the defending Champions Atletico Madrid last weekend.
