Revealed: Arsene Wenger rejected three stunning offers from European giants

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted that he turned down offers from French champions Paris St.Germain to become their manager on three occasions.

Ever since the French outfit was bought by the Qatari  owners, they have been spending really big in order to become a strong force across Europe and the experienced Arsenal boss was an important part of their plan.

The Gunners boss is currently in France as his team is all set to lock horns against the French outfit in their opening game of this year’s Champions League. Speaking about the offers, Wenger said that his loyalty to the English club and fans convinced him to reject the lucrative offers from PSG.

Wenger said: “I have known Sheikh bin Kalifa for a long time but I always feel I remained loyal to Arsenal because I think it’s a club that has the qualities I love.

“That is why I have stayed in England for all this time.”

According to reports in French news outlet L’Equipe, the French champions made their first approach for Wenger when the Qatari Billionaires bought the club in 2011. The French tactician rejected the offer right away but that did not prevent PSG from making two more moves to secure the services of Wenger in 2013 and 2014.

Arsenal have won three league titles and six FA Cups during Wenger’s reign. However, they have not won the Premier League since 2003-04 and some quarters of fans have called for Wenger to leave. Wenger is currently in the final year of his contract at the Emirates and the continuous criticism might pave the way for PSG to sign the French tactician.

Meanwhile, before their important clash against PSG, Arsenal have received some good news as their stand-in skipper Laurent Koscielny has been cleared to play. The centre-back’s participation in the tie was in doubts after suffering a blow to his eye during Saturday’s 2-1 win over Southampton.

But Wenger revealed said that the defender has recovered in time and is fit to play.

Wenger said:“He’s alright. He had a big knock on his face and I was concerned after the game that he wouldn’t be available.

“But he has recovered quite well and he is OK to play.”

PSG form will also be a big boost for the English outfit. The reigning Ligue One champions have started their season poorly and are seventh in the league, with seven points from four games. Arsenal are also in the same position with same point but they have performed well in their last two matches and will look to continue the winning momentum.
