Revealed: Arsene Wenger’s best and worst moments of Arsenal career

When it comes to Arsenal, controversial journalist Piers Morgan, who is a well-known fan of the north London club, is not really seen as a popular member of the fan base.

In fact, it is perhaps the polar opposite, with his Twitter replies often filled with hateful messages regarding his opinions on the current plight of Arsenal and of course, Arsene Wenger.

Now, as a breakaway from his topical tweets regarding the departure of the manager, lack of fight amongst the players and all the regular social media trends with Arsenal, Morgan has given his verdict on Wenger’s best and worst moments for Arsenal.

The tweet can be seen below; judge for yourself as to whether you think he is correct:

To be fair, it is hard to argue against Morgan’s opinion for once. Winning a title at your biggest rivals’ ground is a hard accomplishment to top, particularly as it occurred during the famous unbeaten season.

As for the whole Robin van Persie debacle, well, has any club who considered themselves a major power in the Premier League sunk much lower? Hard to think of many.

The Dutchman literally carried the Gunners to Champions League football before he headed to Manchester United in what was undoubtedly the most evident case of a one-man team in the modern era.

To move to one of your biggest rivals was brutal but beneficial for the striker as he went on to finally secure a Premier League crown – a £24m bargain for the Red Devils in reality.

This was the worst example of Wenger’s inability to keep hold of his star men, however, this is a reputation that he has managed to shake off in recent years.

The French manager’s 20 years in charge have perhaps not been as illustrious as the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson but they will be fondly remembered by the majority of Arsenal fans and the rest of the Premier League.

Will he ever hit the heights of winning the title at White Hart Lane again? Probably not. Will he ever sell a star player to a rival again? It looks unlikely.

The Gunners have started the season in promising fashion in what could be Wenger’s last season. A first title in 13 years would be a welcome way to bid farewell to the great man and perhaps repair his reputation in the eyes of many, particularly Morgan.
