Revealed: What Coutinho Has Told Former Coach About His Liverpool Future

While Liverpool fans will no doubt be delighted with Philippe Coutinho’s recent performances, there’s a fear that his displays are attracting interest from so-called bigger European clubs.

The Brazilian is beginning to replicate his fine form at Anfield on the international stage and scored a cracker against Argentina during his nation’s 3-0 victory on Thursday night.

That goal, and his all round performance, only fuelled speculation linking him with a move to the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Whether they like it or not, Liverpool have become a selling club in recent years, making more money than any other club in European football from player sales in the past six years.

But fear not, Liverpool fans.

That’s because, according to Coutinho’s former coach, he wants to remain at Anfield – for the time being at least.

Rodney Goncalves, Coutinho’s former youth coach at Vasco de Gama, has revealed what the 24-year-old often says when they speak, suggesting that he is willing to remain on Merseyside for a while yet.

“Whenever we speak he always says that is very happy at Liverpool and his biggest challenge is to win the Premier League and Champions League with Liverpool,” Goncalves told the Telegraph.

In previous years, those aims would have been regarded extremely unlikely at Liverpool. However, after the arrival of Jurgen Klopp, things are starting to look promising for the club.

Klopp’s side are currently sitting top of the league and will be expected to finish in the top-four this season – therefore, qualifying for the Champions League.

The promise of Champions League football could be enough for Coutinho to want to remain at the club for a while longer, especially under the guidance of Klopp.

However, despite the playmaker wanting to achieve everything at Liverpool, it must be very difficult to turn the likes of Madrid and Barcelona down when they come calling and the chance to play alongside some of the best players in the world.

Liverpool may win the fight to keep hold of him next summer, but it’s likely to be a fight they will lose in the years to come unless they can help Coutinho achieve his dream of winning the league and Champions League.
