Manchester United have not had many positives to take from the season and a half under Louis van Gaal even as a number of star players from Europe were given a chance at Old Trafford in this time.

However, with the Dutchman set to be replaced by Portuguese genius Joe Mourinho this summer, a number of players will be on their way out of the club this summer.

And recent reports have revealed Mourinho’s initial plans at Old Trafford if he takes over the club.

Spanish news outlet Fichajes claim that Mourinho is set to axe Dutch international Memphis Depay as his first step at restoring the pride at Manchester United.

Depay moved to Manchester United after a stellar season at PSV Eindhoven in his home country but he failed to live up to his price tag of £25m and has not been able to impress in his time in the country.

The 22-year old recently opened up about his situation at Old Trafford and revealed that he enjoys playing in the national jersey more than he does at Manchester.

He said that his national team coach has a lot of confidence in him and that he is enjoying the international break where his team plays some interesting games.

He insisted that he does not want to leave Old Trafford and added that he wants to talk to the people involved at the club about his future.

“There are people inside the club with whom I talk about this. Also with the coach. Furthermore, I do not want to leave,” Depay said.

“My focus now lies with the Dutch team. Two good games coming and I am really happy that I can be in there,” he added.

In other news, Spanish Newspaper El Pais claimed earlier this month that Mourinho has signed a pre-contract agreement to replace Louis van Gaal.

However, it also revealed that United will have to pay a staggering £5m if the deal is not completed by the 1st of May and £10m by 1st of June.

Surely, if the Portuguese takes over the Manchester outfit, the numbers involved in his deal are set to be mid-blowing.

But do you think Mourinho is the right man for the Red Devils next season?
