Looks like snubbed Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes finally on the verge of putting an end to his miserable Old Trafford campaign as Newcastle United is lining up to sign him.

Daily Star is reporting, Louis van Gaal’s out of favour, the former Barcelona keeper sidelined since the end of last season, is possibly replacing St. James’ Park’s injured Dutch keeper Tim Krul.

Valdes earlier was linked with a transfer to Chelsea and Liverpool but his van Gaal is not in a position to sell him to a direct rival.

Newcastle’s first-choice goalkeeper Krul is out for the remaining season as he injured an anterior cruciate knee ligament while on international duty for Netherland’s against Kazakhstan last Saturday and is not coming to full fitness until next year’s August.

Newcastle manager Steve McClaren already have Rob Elliot and Karl Darlow in reserve but he is planning to rope in a direct replacement for his injured first choice shotstopper, offering Valdes a chance to find his escape route out of Manchester United.

Last July, when Manchester United was on pre-season tour of the United States, Van Gaal expressed his frustration openly saying that he exiled Valdes as he refused to play for the reserve team and failed to comply with the club’s ‘philosophy’.

“When you are not willing to follow the principles of the philosophy, then there is only one way and that is out,” Van Gaal reacted.

“It is a big disappointment. We thought that he would follow our philosophy.

“It is a pity because we have given him the opportunity to rehabilitate, gave him a contract and then he is fit to play.”

Any permanent transfer linking Valdes to St. James’ Park can only be succeeded when the transfer window opens in January, because the Spaniard is still under contract at Manchester United until the end of the season.
