For the first time in their history, this will be both the two club’s 25th meeting and, quite unusually, the sixth in succession, four of the meetings in the Premier league, to be played in either December or January; Watford are ready to take on Liverpool while sitting above them in the league table.

Interestingly the Hornets have won all of their last three matches, and their opponents failed to win none of their past three games, and the continued absence of injured Daniel Sturridge will make Liverpool’s task much more difficult against a home team who have no significant injuries right now and haven’t tasted a defeat this term against any team below them in the Premier league.

Liverpool need to reproduce in today’s fixture away to Watford the kind of intelligent attacking play which helped them put six away against Southampton and four against Manchester City and Klopp will be eager to celebrate with a victory, not a draw.

Here are the lineups for Watford and Liverpool

Watford starting lineup: Gomes (GK); Nyom, Britos, Cathcart, Ake; Capoue, Watson; Abdi, Deeney (c), Jurado; Ighalo.

Watford substitutes: Arlauskis (GK), Holebas, Behrami, Guedioura, Anya, Diamanti, Oulare

Liverpool starting lineup: Bogdan, Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno, Lucas, Henderson, Can, Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino.

Liverpool substitutes: Fulton, Toure, Randall, Allen, Ibe, Origi, Benteke.
