According to recent reports, Roberto Martinez is keen on brining Arsenal star keeper Wojciech Szczesny to Everton for the next season.
The present shot stopper, Tim Howard has not been at his best for the club this season and is one the verge of a move away from the club.
The 36-year old United States International is an experienced shot stopper and will surely have a lot of clubs vying for him in the MLS. If he decides to make a move back home, Martinez needs a proper replacement and Szczesny is on the top of the wish list for the Everton manager.
Szczesny was offloaded to AS Roma at the beginning of this season after Arsenal took Petr Cech on a free transfer for this season.
However the Polish international is set to return to England after failing to impress in Italy and the Toffees are ready to make a move for the 24 year old.
A Gunners since 2006, Szczesny as made 181 senior appearances for the London franchise since his debut in 2009 but has not been able to lift the Premier League.
He has won two FA Cups and one Community shield with the Gunners and felt earlier this season that he would be unlucky if Arsenal go onto lift the Premier League title this season.
He told the Polish national team’s YouTube channel: “I watch all Arsenal games, of course. And I hope they will be champions, honestly.
“I spoke to Theo Walcott yesterday and told him they have to win it, but it’s gonna make me look like some kind of idiot.
“They never won it when I was there and now… Oh look, Szczesny is gone so it’s obvious what the problem was. I might be joking, but it’s still a bit, you know… maybe it’s true after all.
“But nah, easy, I was there for 4 seasons out of 10, there were other keepers before me and we didn’t win the title either.
“Of course it stings a bit, I won’t say it hurts because I’m an Arsenal fan and when I watch the games I always want them to win, I really hope they will be champions.”
It is to be seen whether Arsenal let the 25 year old leave the club this summer.
