Liverpool are going face Arsenal at the Emirates on Monday after a two-match winning form.

The match will be a high voltage one and both teams will want to get the best results from the fixture.

Ahead of the match, here is what Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said in his pre-match press conference:

“Arsenal’s an important game, they’re a rival we expect to compete with at the top. It’s important for confidence, psychologically.”

“Benteke’s run to score was perfect and his athleticism was fantastic. I understand frustrations with the changing laws.”

“I thought the officials vs. Villa had done well over the course of the evening. I can’t see this being the last time, difficult to call.”

“It’s a natural instinct. Players will always look to go to the ball. There was no way Coutinho was going to get the ball.”

“Quality of the ball in, and the athleticism of the run and finish made the goal. But I do understand Bournemouth’s frustrations.”

“We want the fixture list to be hectic because it means you’re doing well in cup competitions. We traveled a lot in pre-season, too.”

“Players have worked really well and we’re preparing in great deal with them.”

“Alberto Moreno has trained very well, he understands why he’s not starting. There’s always opportunities for players to contribute.”

“I’m sure there’ll be one or two U21 players, like Jordan Rossiter. He’s mature and a valuable player. I can see him staying here.”

“Each game you assess and look at where you can win the game. Of course you want consistency, but we can also change things “

“You can go to the Emirates, dominate the space, not necessarily possession, and win. We will have a good idea of how to beat Arsenal.”

Rodgers said about the offside statement from Premier League, “Firstly, from a coaching perspective, we were very happy with the goal in terms of our short corner routine.”

He added, “The last 10 games Arsenal have lost at home, teams have only averaged 4 shots on target with 43% possession.”

“You don’t need to dominate the ball there, you just need to dominate the space.”

“We’ve shown our character and organisation in the two games so far.”

“There’s a real focus, mental toughness, in the group this season. We’ve got the ability to scrap and fight as well as play good football.”

“One or two players to assess, but hopefully we’ll be otherwise unchanged at Arsenal.”

“I’m happy with the players we’ve brought in so nothing really on bringing players in. Nothing to add on players out either.”
