Wayne Rooney, the England international has been in not so good form, lately. The Manchester United captain has failed to convert chances as the striker hasn’t netted many goals, this season. Recently, Wazza made his 500th appearance for the English giants, although he missed out on scoring a few, in that fixture. The 2016 Euros are approaching and Wayne Rooney needs to buck up his form ahead of the campaign. The team needs its captain to be in the best of his colours in order to excel in the league. Rooney remarkably earned himself the record of breaking Sir Bobby Charlton’s 49 goal haul as the Liverpool-born man scored the 50th goal for his country and entered his name in the hall of fame. If at all England have the chances to win the Euros in summer, Wayne has to be the man leading The Lions. Roy Hodgson says, ‘’We really need him being Wayne Rooney on the field scoring goals, making goals and with his drive and commitment leading us forward.’’
‘’I thought he handled that [the record] quite brilliantly,” Hodgson said.
“Of course, it was that penalty that did it. That was an important penalty and I thought it showed how dedicated he is to his profession.”
“The most important thing for him as far as I’m concerned is that he’s got to keep playing well for Manchester United, playing well for England when we have our games together and that he still leads by example on the field,” Hodgson added.
‘’It doesn’t matter how much good work he can do for us off the field in terms of being some sort of mentor for the younger players.
“We really need him being Wayne Rooney on the field scoring goals, making goals and with his drive and commitment leading us forward.”
Rooney will play against Stoke City this boxing day as the two teams face each other in an away fixture for the Red Devils. Manchester United is currently 5th on the table at equal points with Arsenal’s rivals, Tottenham Hotspur.
