According to Spanish Newspaper El Confidencial Atletico Madrid have agreed to sell their star striker Diego Costa for a whopping €60m in the summer. The newspaper is one of the most reputed in Spain and claims that the Stamford Bridge side have agreed a deal with the Rojiblancos and Jose Mourinho is more than willing to pay his €60m release clause.

Chelsea’s lack of striking options is well documented with neither of Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba hitting form in the whole course of the season. While Ba is certain to leave, Torres might also be on his way to Serie A side Inter Milan, who are on track for a massive overhaul in the summer following new owner Erik Thohir’s major plans of investing in the Nerazzurris.

Costa’s unbelievable season has seen his hit the back of the net a staggering 33 times in 36 appearances and also grabbing 4 assists on the way. Atletico are in the Champions League semi finals pitted against  Chelsea and are also on the top of the La Liga standings with Diego Simeone’s men looking well placed to end Real Madrid and Barcelona’s hegemony in Spain.

Many English tabloids had earlier reported that the deal was done and dusted while others went a steap ahead claiming it be exclusive. For Costa though a move to one of the affluent consortias in the Premier League would be a totally different prospect from the one in Spain. Atletico can also build a strong unit with the whopping money that they are to receive, meaning it’s a gain- gain situation for either side.

Costa will represent Spain in this year’s World Cup in Brazil and if he has to have a great show in Brazil, his price could have sky rocketed, hence Chelsea as expectedly want to complete the deal as soon as possible.
