Rumours: Man United ready for summer overhaul with Depay, Schneiderlin to be axed

According to the latest reports, Manchester United forward Memphis Depay and midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is set to be shown the door this summer as LVG is not impressed with the pair’s performance this season.
A report published by The Sun claims that Old Trafford hierarchy is planning to offload a series of their under-performing players at the end of this season as part of a summer overhaul.
The list includes Depay, with the tabloid suggesting that United are ready to listen to offers for the forward.
The promising attacker arrived at Manchester United last summer after winning the Eredivisie with PSV Eindhoven. Louis van Gaal spent a rumoured £31 million to land the forward to Old Trafford, but since then Depay hasn’t been able to impress, scoring just two goals in 23 Premier League appearances.
The forward also has been somewhat marginalised in recent weeks by van Gaal, as the Dutch coach now prefers to use youngsters such as Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford.
The 22-year-old performed so badly following his sensational move to the Premier League, that despite the high profile nature of his transfer van Gaal had no other choice but to drop him from the team.
Injuries to other players and some solid performances have seen Depay wrestle a more regular spot back, but he still has plenty to prove.
However the potential exit of Schneiderlin comes as a major surprise, with the French midfielder proving he could be an ideal long-term successor for Michael Carrick, even if he has not always looked comfortable in this campaign.
United have signed a number of alternative midfielders over the past few years but Schneiderlin is still their best on his day when it comes to move the ball forward, often launching attacks from the very base of the engine room with his mixed-ranged passing game.
Apart from these two, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo are also in danger to be axed in the summer.
Jones has really struggled with injury this season and has played just 6 league matches, the last was at the start of January. Rojo has also struggled with a shoulder problem and only returned for the last seven games after three months out.
