Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez will be available for FA Cup final but mightt miss the start of the next season if Chile progresses in Copa America.
Wenger also insisted that there has been an agreement between Arsenal and Chile as they won’t call the forward early. The FA Cup final will be played on May 30 and Copa America starts on June 11 which will leave the forward a mere 10 days to recover and get ready for the biggest tournament in American continent.
According to FIFA regulations, a club should release their players 14 days prior to the start of any international tournament.
Wenger said, “They (Chile) could call him up. We got an agreement they won’t call him. Anyway I am sure he would not go (before the FA Cup final).
The tournament will have the likes of Neymar, Vidal, Messi, Aguero, Di Maria and many other stars. Chile have never won Copa America and Sanchez will have a very important role if they progress into the knock-out rounds.
If Chile progresses into the latter stages of the tournament then Sanchez can miss the start of the season insisted Wenger.
‘That is not good news (for Arsenal) because they (Chile) finish very late and if they go very far, he will miss the start of the season.’
Sanchez is an integral part of the Chilean national side as he is their third most capped player and fourth highest goal scorer of all time.
The Copa America begins on 11 June and ends on July 4 while the 2015-16 Premier League season starts on 8 August.
