Secret Plan: This the reason why Liverpool didn’t sign any new left-back

Jurgen Klopp was seen deep in conversation with Alberto Moreno on Liverpool’s training ground pictures while many players are away with international duty.
It may be an international break but the work hasn’t stopped for Jurgen Klopp as his Liverpool players who aren’t away with their countries have been reporting for training.
The transfer window closed yesterday and many thought that left-back was an area the Reds’ boss needed to address.
However, Klopp opted not to enter the market for another full-back late on in the window, leaving Alberto Moreno as his only natural left-back, though James Milner has played three of the four games in that role so far this season.
It is evident that Klopp is keen to work with the Spaniard in order to put right some of the errors he has been making of late. Notably, he had a poor Europa League final and gave away a penalty on the opening day of the season against Arsenal.
With the Reds not in first-team action until 10th September – when they take on Leicester City at Anfield – Klopp seems keen to get to work with both of his main full-back options judging by the latest round of Liverpool training photographs.
A lot has been said about how work on the training ground is one of Klopp’s strengths when it comes to his side improving and succeeding, and he hopes that Moreno will not be an exception to the rule. He obviously wants to help the player improve on all areas of his game to eradicate the errors from his game.
It is interesting that in the top photograph, Milner doesn’t seem too far away from discussions as he looks to improve on an unfamiliar role for him. Though he may not be a natural in the position, some would argue his defensive positioning is better than that of the Spaniard’s.
Some will say not going into the market is a gamble, but this is probably early evidence of Klopp working on that particular area so it becomes less of a talking point as the season goes on.
