Manchester United have reportedly received the first bid for their winger Memphis Depay. The Netherlands international has fallen out of favour at the Old Trafford and has been heavily linked with a move away from the club in the upcoming January transfer window.
Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb (TMW) has reported that Serie A giants AS Roma have made a loan offer with the option to buy for the out of favour forward. The 22-year-old has made four appearances this term in the Premier League, all coming from the bench, and it is very unlikely that he will get regular playing action in the coming months. He was not even named in the squad for United’s EFL Cup tie against West Ham United earlier this week which is a clear indication that he does not feature in Jose Mourinho’s plan.
Anthony Martial’s return to form is another bad news for the Dutch star and a move away from the Old Trafford looks the best option for him to revive his career.
The news outlet has claimed that Roma are ready to bring Depay to Italy on a temporary deal until the end of the season with an option of signing him permanently for £21 million. The report claimed that the out of favour star has become a top target for the Serie A outfit as they are desperate to sign a forward in January.
However, Roma will not find it easy to sign the United player as other clubs are highly interested in him too. Roma’s domestic rivals, Juventus and Napoli are interested in the attacker too while Everton manager Ronald Koeman has publicly said that he would like to see Depay at the Goodison park.
