Liverpool along with Chelsea have been heavily linked with Brazilian attacker Teixeira but his club Shakhtar Donetsk have slapped a sensational price-tag for him.
However the Ukrainian club’s coach Mircea Lucescu doesn’t want to hold back Alex Teixeira from moving into a bigger league but has also priced the highly rated goalmachine at €50million to cash in a huge sum if they have to let go their star player
Liverpool have had two successive bids for Teixeira rejected in this January transfer window as Jurgen Klopp is keen to bolster his injury-hit squad and The Brazilian forward himself has recently revealed he wanted to leave his club as soon as possible, but Shakhtar’s hefty price tag actually forcing away the potential suitors.
Both the Premier League giants Liverpool and Chelsea are battling for long time to secure the service of the 26-year-old lethal attacker who has netted 26 goals in 25 matches this season.
Although Liverpool are still following the original bid of £30m plus add-ons and they still have few days in hand to come to an agreement with Shaktar, but despite the current stalemate between the two clubs, Teixeira made it clear he wants an early switch to put an end to all the uncertainties.
“He’s worth €50m,” Lucescu told in an interview with FourFourTwo. “He’s incredible, very fast, very good technique.
“I compare him with other players of the same age who changed [the fortunes of] a club, [Angel] Di Maria for example at Paris Saint-Germain.
“Teixeira can be at the same level, better even. He doesn’t get injured, and every year he gets better and better.”
Shakhtar coach also admitted it is up to the president of the club to decide when to let go Teixeira.
“Our president knows when it is the time for Teixeira to go,” the Romanian manager clarified.
“I don’t want to keep a player against his desire. He wants to play in a big championship.”
Last week Liverpool MD Ian Ayre visited Shakhtar’s winter training camp in Florida to start talks with the Ukrainian club’s officials. Whereas Chelsea have been negotiating their deal with Shakhtar since last December.
A report from Sky Sports also suggests Teixeira sees his compatriots Phillipe Coutinho and Lucas Leiva as two of his best friends and would love to join them at Anfield becoming Jurgen Klopp’s second signing of the January window if a deal can be succeeded before the February 1 deadline.
