Arsenal are not willing to let Mathieu Debuchy leave the club on the deadline day, according to reports.

Italian club Fiorentina and Spanish side Espanyol are keen to sign the player today but have so far failed in their pursuit. French media outlet Le Sport 10 claims Arsenal have told Debuchy that he will not leave the club this summer as the Gunners have fell short of options in defence due to injuries.

The 31-year old has spent the second half of last season at French club Bordeaux but failed to make an impact as he suffered an injury during his loan spell at the club.

Debuchy has fell behind in the pecking order with the emergence of Hector Bellerin who is touted as the best young fullback in Europe. Since making a move to Emirates from Newcastle United in 2014 for £12 million, the French International has only managed 22 appearances for the North London club.

The player has spent the second half of last season on loan at French outfit Bordeaux but failed to make an impact as he suffered an injury during his loan spell which restricted him to only 9 Ligue 1 appearances.

The player still has three years in his contract with Gunners but has expressed his desire to leave the club this Summer. However, he will be staying at the club until January at least before Wenger makes a decision on his future at the club.
