Anfield outfit Liverpool are yet to lift their first Premier League trophy and though they have come close on more than couple of occasions, they have not been able to reach the summit come the end of the season.
But an year and a half ago, Fenway Sports Group, the owners of the English outfit, decided to lure German talisman Jurgen Klopp to the club and ever since, the Reds have shown great promise to compete with the best not just in England but also in Europe.
Though they have bought some effective players in recent times, Jurgen Klopp’s signing remains their best accusation probably since the purchase of Luis Suarez a few years ago, the Reds, were given a shocker as a part of this transfer window today.
According to reports from Spanish newspaper Don Balon, Jurgen Klopp is now a wanted man in Spain.
The report suggest that Catalan giants Barcelona are plotting a move for the German at the end of the season with current manager Luis Enrique, not able to keep up the impressive performances from the last two season.
The current La Liga champions are 3 points off Real Madrid at the top of the domestic table and have lost two games more than their rivals, making their chances of a third consecutive title that much harder.
And it is now understood that Barcelona are ready to replace him and have a few names in mind already.
The report suggests that Luis Enrique might not be at the Camp Nou after the end of the current season and Liverpool’s German is at the top of their wish-list.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager helped Liverpool to a couple of cup finals in his first half season at Anfield and is currently in the middle of the title race in the Premier League, while also entertaining a couple of domestic cups.
He signed a contract extension recently, that will keep him at the club for another 5 years but Barcelona are desperate for his services and will try to lure him in the summer.
Luis Enrique helped Barcelona to a treble in his first season with the club while also winning the La Liga and the Copa del Rey in his second season.
However, his team have not looked anywhere near as good this season and the Spanish side might need a chance at the end of the season.
Everton’s Ronald Koeman, who was once an influential player for the Spanish side is also on the wishlist alongside the likes of Jorge Sampaoli, Franck De Boer, Ernesto Valverde, Eusebio Sacristán and Thomas Tuchel who are all more than eligible for this job.
An offer from such a big club will not be easy to turn down, but Klopp, who is building for the future at Anfield, might not leave the project midway to fly to Spain.
Do you think Jurgen Klopp will move to Barcelona at the end of the season?
