According to Daily Mirror, Leicester City are set to rival Arsenal to sign Monaco defender Marcel Tisserand.
Earlier reports confirmed that Arsenal have made contact with player’s agent and Leicester have also reportedly made contact with the club over his availability for the transfer this summer.
Arsenal are in need of a centre-back this summer after losing both Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista due to long-term injuries. The 23-year old is one of the highly-rated centre-halves available in the market and a number of clubs are interested in signing him.
Spanish club Espanyol are also tracking Tisserand but the deal has been put on hold as the player is reportedly keen on a move to England.
Arsenal are the favorites to sign the player before the interest of Premier League champions Leicester City. Considering the inflated prices of both Mustafi and Gimenez, Gunners are forced to look at other options available in the market and have reportedly upped their interest in the Monaco defender.
The 23-year old provides more options to any club as he can play both as a central defender as well as a right-back. He could provide much-needed depth to the defense which could play a vital part in the long season ahead as top English clubs play more matches than other clubs across Europe.
