Shocking: Watford sack Quique Sanchez Flores.

Watford F.C have confirmed that their 51 years old Spanish manager Quique Sanchez Flores will resign at the end of this season.

Sportsmail revealed last month that there is a chance Sanchez Flores could get sacked as the club’s board, including owner Gino Pozzo was not satisfied with his recent performance. They are also looking for an alternative European manager to take the side forward.

Although Flores comfortably avoided the drop and reached an FA cup semi-final, then also his future at Vicarage Road had been thrown into doubt.

The Premier League side made the announcement on Friday before their final match of the season against Sunderland at Vicarage Road.

A statement on Watford’s website said: ‘Watford can confirm that Quique Sanchez Flores will leave Vicarage Road at the end of the season following the Sunderland game this weekend.’

‘We would like to thank Quique. He and the team achieved the target set them at the start of the season of staying in the Premier League for a second year.’

‘Quique leaves with all our best wishes for the future and the knowledge he is always welcome at Vicarage Road.’

Walter Mazzarri has been linked with Watford, as rumors spreading that he could be the next manager. He worked at Inter Milan, Napoli and Sampdoria in recent years.

Sanchez Flores took English lessons last year after being proposed by Swansea, Liverpool and Sunderland for managerial roles.

The Spanish arrived at Vicarage Road last summer before Premier League season and has safely secured the team from being relegated.

In the opening half of the season, Watford were one of the outstanding performers and were pushing for a Europa League spot.

But suddenly their form went down and they have the fourth-worst Premier League form in 2016.

In 18 matches they’ve just managed four wins and despite leading the team to an FA semi-final, Watford owner Gino Pozzo has decided to replace the manager this summer.
