Shocking: Arsenal’s star midfielder could face January exit, Gooners will be extremely disappointed to know the name

Arsenal are stalling talks over a new contract for promising young midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain despite player reaching the end of his contract, according to reports.

The 23-year old who have shown signs of brilliance have failed to perform consistently as he failed to pin a place in the Arsenal’s starting line up. He was signed by Arsene Wenger when he was only 17 years old for a massive £12 million in 2011 from Southampton.

The English international has shown flashes of brilliance but has failed to convert the opportunities that Wenger provided. According to Independent, the Gunners have reportedly stalled talks over his new contract which is set to expire in 2017.

The Gunners have made the contracts of German star Mesut Ozil and Chilean international Alexis Sanchez as their top priority at the moment as they want the duo to stay at the club for a long term. The English wide man has fallen down the pecking order with his porr performances of late.

The same was repeated against Paris Saint-Germain in their 1-1 draw at Parc des Princes last night as Chamberlain has once again failed to provide a decent performance in the crucial fixture. He was also very poor in their weekend Premier League win against Southampton as he was subbed off after 63 minutes.

With Aaron Ramsey getting fit, Oxlade-Chamberlain could see himself being benched for the reminder of the season as he failed to make the most out of the opportunities he got so far this season.

The report also suggested that Arsene Wenger was ready to listen to offers for the winger but the player has expressed his willingness to commit his future to the club which made the transfer not possible. Arsenal might be looking to cash on him next summer as he is still young and has lot of potential which could get them big money.

The player is being advised by people close to him to leave Arsenal to make a fresh start to his career as he failed to impress in the four starts he got this season. The contracts of Gibbs and Wilshere are also under scanner with the latter set to ink a new deal next January.
