In a busy transfer window, Liverpool are getting deals done as quickly as possible and reports now have suggested that they have chained their shot stopper with a new 5-year deal at the club.

The Belgian goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has been the first choice keeper at the club for more than 2 seasons now and it is understood that the goal keeper’s representatives are in England to finalize a fresh five and a half year contract with the Merseyside franchise.

The Liverpool No 1 has not been a fan favorite and has been heavily criticized for his error-prone game at the back. He has cost Liverpool several points over the course of the last two seasons and is definitely been under scrutiny.

But manager Jurgen Klopp has come out several times to the keeper’s rescue and has backed him up with a new contract now stating publicly that he is not in the market for a new goalkeeper.

The keeper will sign an extension to his current deal to keep him at Anfield until 2020, and earn in excess of £50,000 per week.

Mignolet even in the wake of all the criticism was he keeper who kept most clean sheets in the 2015 year and has generally been a smart shot stopper. It is his ability to handle the pressure situations and his command of the area that have seen the fans turn against him.

However, with a new contract to boast about, the Belgian might just be able to up his game and provide Liverpool with the stability at the back that can help the club in their pursuit of success.
