As Manchester United completed a superb away perfromance against Southampton with a 3-2 win at St. Mary’s, we take a look at the player ratings from the game which was once again dominated by the new kid on show Anthony Martial. The young French striker scored 2 goals on the night to first equalize then put his team on front afte Graziano Pelle had scored the opening goal for Southampton.

Martin Stekelenburg – 6 – Could not do anything for the goals, else was kept quiet.
Maya Yoshida – 5 – shocking back pass for Martial’s second goal.
Jose Fonte – 5 – skipper tried to be cheeky, ended up giving the ball to Martial for 1st goal.
Virgin Van Djik – 6 – Looked assurd at the back.
Matt Targett – 5.5 – Largely hidden from the game, was taken off at half time.
Victor Wanyama – 6.5 – Beast of a performance, had the better of Schneiderlin.
Oriol Romeu – 5.5 – Former Chelsea man had an off day.
Sadio Mane – 7.5 – star of the show for Saints, troubled entire United defense.
Dusan Tadic – 6.5 – Impressive display, had Darmian hiding for cover.
James Ward-Prowse – 7 – His delivery for the 1st goal was worth 10/10.
Graziano Pelle7– Beautiful goals, however, his miss truend out to be the difference.

David De Gea – 7 – made brilliant double save to deny saints any point.
Matteo Darmian – 5 – rough night for Italian, taken off at half time.
Chris Smalling – 6.5 – yet again, was the best defender for United.
Daley Blind – 5.5 – Tested and ran ragged by Mane & Pelle
Marcos Rojo  – 5.5 – Looked unsure in left back role.
Michael Carrick – 5.5 – Passing was there but largely ineffective.
Morgan Schneiderlin – 6.5 – Good perfformance against his former team.
Juan Mata – 6.5 – In the end, score the match winning goal.
Memphis Depay – 5.5 – Did well for Mata’s goal, but largely ineffective.
Wayne Rooney – 5.5 – Yet again, a performance worth forgetting from Rooney.
Anthony Martial – 8.5 – Easily star of the show, 2 league games 3 goals.
