Liverpool’s summer business at the start of the current season has paid mixed dividends with players like Roberto Firmino shining in their debut season.

But the biggest flop of the transfer window for the Anfield outfit is the Belgium striker Christian Benteke.

Benteke moved to Liverpool from Aston Villa last summer on a £32.5m deal and has since not been able to impress the fans or the boss at Anfield.

He has scored 7 goals for the club, joint highest scorer in the league for the Reds but has fallen down the pecking order at the club. Sturridge and Origi, who are both fit, have not given Benteke a chance in the team for a long time now and the manager’s handling of the big Belgian tells a story of its own.

Benteke has hardly been used in an effective capacity yet Klopp was seen shouting at the player after the end of the game at Southampton. These gestures show that the25-year old hardly has a future at Anfield.

This will see Klopp put him up for sale this summer along with a number of other players as the manager hopes to stamp his authority on the squad at the club.

He is still a very accomplished goal scorer and will attract interest from a number of clubs all over Europe.

West Ham United looked set to steal the 25-year old in the summer but it is now reported that Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid are interested in bringing Benteke to the Calderon this summer.

According to Goal.com, Diego Simeone wants to bolster his attacking options and has identified the Belgian as a perfect fit at Atleti.

Players like Diego Costa are linked with the Spanish outfit but Benteke will surely get used to Simeone’s style of play.

He is not mobile enough to play the Klopp’s style but Simeone will be sure to use him as a target man and can potentially get the best out of the 25-year old next season.

However, there are rumors that Benteke is also offered a big money move to China and it will be interesting to see where the Belgian plays come the start of the next season.

Do you think Benteke will fit into Atletico Madrid’s style of play next season?
