A Year where Juventus totally dominated Serie A, which is happening quite for some seasons now, with third star adding to their emblem one can say Juventus has already gripped Serie A in style. Though from the capital side, A.S Roma has finally shown some improvements and had fought for Scudetto till the end. A passion which was lacking from years. Previous ‘Italian Giants’, A.C Milan and Internazionale hve further declined after a terrible season from both the Milan clubs. As things stand only a huge investment from both the clubs can get them to safer side.

Mattia Perin (Genoa and Italy):


With Italian and Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon seems to lose his spark, Italy might have a new number one in the name of Mattia Perin.

Still 22 and already touted as next ‘Gigi Buffon’, one can think how much pressure he has on his shoulders. But that doesn’t affect his form. In 2013/14 season, Mattia Perin finally started getting playing time and he went onto start 37 games out of 38 where he won 5 man of the match and earned his National call up.

Perin was included in Prandelli’s provisional 30-man squad ahead of 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and then confirmed in the 23-man squad as the third choice goalkeeper behind Gianluigi Buffon and Salvatore Sirigu. He became the youngest player of the squad and the only one who had no previous caps.

He made his debut with the national team on in November 2014, in a 1–0 friendly win against Albania, replacing Sirigu for the last 17 minutes at his club ground of the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Perin didn’t lost his form, currently he is still the sole reason why Genoa has been performing so well this season. In 15 matches so far he has already earned 3 man of the match.

 

Leandro Castan (Roma and Brazil):

Leandro Castán has not played for Roma since coming off at Empoli in September after suffering dizziness but he was consistent enough to make into team of the year.

He was the backbone of Roma last season, the reason why Roma didn’t conceded many goals. He played 36 games in Serie A last season which an passing percentage of 83.8%. Though Roma failed to win Scudetto, Castan assured all the Roma fans that he can be trustful.

 

Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus and Italy):
 
 
Leonardo Bonucci is arguably the best centre-back in Serie A now, he has been defensively very accurate since a season or two. He is also specialist in delivering long balls which can easily proved to be a havoc for opponents.
 
His goal right at the end against A.S Roma proved to be a winner where Juventus won 3-2 after been trailing 2-1 earlier.
 
This season Bonucci has made 15 appearances in the Italian Serie A. He has also featured in the Champions League six times.

Last season he made 37 appearances for Lazio where he scored 12 times and assisted 6 goals.

In February 2014, Nainggolan scored his first goal for the capital side, grabbing the 1–0 winner against Bologna. His second, which arrived in April against Fiorentina ensured his team automatic qualification to the UEFA Champions League.

Still 21 but he is the best central midfielder in Serie A along with his teammate Andrea Pirlo.
 
He was described by his former club Manchester United as a “powerful, skilful, and creative” player who has “an eye for goal and a penchant for the spectacular”. After his transfer to Juventus, he gained the nickname Il Polpo Paul (“Paul the Octopus”) for his long legs that look like tentacles during tackling or running.
In January 2014, Pogba was decisive in Juventus’s 4-2 victory over Sampdoria, as he scored and assisted for the team. Three weeks later, Pogba assisted a goal as Juventus drew 2-2 against Verona. Later, Pogba produced a beautiful assist in Juventus’s 2–0 win over Udinese, the same team that Pogba scored two magnificent goals against in the previous season. Later that week, Pogba scored the only goal in Juventus’s 1–0 win over Bologna. Pogba was also named the man of the match for his performance. His goal against Napoli proved to be the best goal in Serie A last season where he volleyed home from some distance after controlling it superbly.

In September, Pogba contributed to Juventus’s win against Milan by assisting Tevez’s goal in Juventus’s 1-0 victory over Milan. Later that month, Pogba saved Juventus from a defeat against Sassuolo by equalizing the scoreline, he was later voted man of the match. In October, Pogba was named on the 23 man shortlist for the 2014 ballon d’or and at 21 was the youngest on the list.

Pirlo made his 100th league appearance for Juventus in a 3–2 home win over Roma in October. On the 1st November, Pirlo scored Juventus’s opening goal from a free kick in a 2–0 win over Empoli, on their 117th anniversary; this was his 26th goal from a free kick in Serie A, putting him two goals behind the all-time record holder, Siniša Mihajlović.  On the 15th December 2014, Pirlo was named the Serie A Footballer of the Year for the third time in his career, and for the third consecutive year since his arrival at Juventus; he was also named part of the 2014 Serie A Team of the Year.

This season Pirlo has made eight appearances in the Italian Serie A. He has also featured in the Champions League four times.

His energy and goal scoring rate made him an indispensable player for the club in the eyes of fellow players and media alike.

In February 2014, he scored the only goal in Juve’s 1–0 defeat of Torino in the Derby della Mole. It was his first goal in Turin Derby. He ended the season as the team’s top goalscorer with 21 goals in all competitions, and was named as Juve’s “Player of the Season”. He was the third-highest goalscorer in Serie A with 19 goals, as the Bianconeri won a 30th Scudetto.

In September he scored the only goal for Juventus against Milan which was enough to take the bragging rights.

In April, he scored his first hat-trick for the club in a 4–2 win over Lazio.  In October 2014, Higuaín scored his first three league goals of the season in a 6–2 home win over Hellas Verona. He is already on 7 goals this season and further looking to increase his tally.

This season Gonzalo Higuaín has made 15 appearances in the Italian Serie A. He has also featured in the Europa league six times.
