Spurs and Liverpool shared a point each after playing a 1-1 draw at the White Hart Lane on Saturday.
Just before the half-time, Liverpool took the lead from a penalty. James Milner scored that goal after slotting it home in the bottom left corner, while Spurs goalkeeper Vorm dived to the wrong side. Earlier, Spurs’ Erik Lamela made an unintentional foul on visitors’ Roberto Firmino inside the penalty box, which resulted in the penalty for the hosts.
Spurs made a comeback into the match from Danny Rose’s equaliser goal on 72 minutes. Dier made a good cross which Lamela headed to Rose and Rose finished off the move in the end.
In the first half of the match, The Reds totally dominated over the hosts. Reds had a chance to take an early lead as Phillippe Coutinho fluffed his lines after he was nicely set up by Firmino but Vorm made an excellent save to deny that goal.
In the very next minute, hosts attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen took a free-kick from the difficult angle towards the goal but Reds’ keeper Mignolet made a good diving save.
On the 12th minute, hosts midfielder Dele Alli smashed a left-footed shot which went over the bar.
Then Vorm made a two good stops in quick time and rescued hosts single handedly on those moments. First in the 19 minutes, Vorm smartly stopped Liverpool’s winger Mane by a good tackle inside the penalty box.
In next, Vorm once again did the sweeper-keeper job against Mane. This time Vorm came outside the box while Mane was running towards the ball; Vorm made a good clearance by making a diving clearance and survived his team from any damage.
In the 25th minute, Coutinho had another good shot at the bottom left corner after Mane placed the ball superbly for him. But once again Vorm saved the home team by his smart goalkeeping.
Liverpool’s wait finally ended at 43rd minute after James Milner scored the goal from penalty.
In the first half, Mane was very lucky not to be booked for the second time. After getting a yellow card for foul to Lamela in 32 minutes, Mane made another foul just in the next two minutes.
At the very beginning of the second half, Liverpool’s Wijnaldum took a shot from the outside the box which went over the bar. In the 52 minutes, Clyne made a good header from the corner which went away after hitting top of the bar.
In the 56 minutes, Liverpool was denied a goal due to an offside. Mane successfully netted the ball after taking the good grounded cross from Lallana but Lallana was in just offside position during Danny Rose’s pass to him.
In the 62nd minute, the hosts for the first time made a positive attack in the box. Dier made a good low cross to his teammate Eriksen which Eriksen hit over the bar.
In the 65th minute, Liverpool goalkeeper Mignolet made an outstanding save from Alderweireld’s header. From the resulting Eriksen’s corner, Alderweireld connected a good header towards the right corner of the goal which was brilliantly saved by Mignolet in the end.
Finally, Spurs scored the goal on 72 minutes and equalised the scoreline to 1-1.
