Stats Show Arsenal Were Lucky To Miss Out On Julian Draxler

The German international demanded that he would be allowed to leave in the summer amidst interest from Arsene Wenger’s outfit and Italian giants Juventus, but any exit was blocked by Wolfsburg and the 23-year-old was reportedly fined €100,000 for coming out publicly with his desire to leave.
Today, the attacker’s stay in the Bundesliga is over, as it was announced that he would leave to join the French champions for a fee which is widely reported to be potentially rising to £40 million.

However, Draxler’s performances have hardly lit up any pitch in Germany during the 2016/17 campaign, and when we compared him to Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez, who joined the club for less than the fee that Paris will pay Wolfsburg for Draxler, the difference in quality is overwhelming.
On statistics measured on averages per game, Sanchez comfortably outweighs Draxler in every department we’ve measured.
Draxler has offered absolutely no goal threat for Wolfsburg when he has played this season, whereas Sanchez has averaged 0.71 goals per game, a staggering contrast.
Draxler has also registered just two assists for the Wolves – Sanchez has over double in comparison.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s maestro creates at least 2.59 chances per game for his teammates this season, with Draxler offering little in return.
The Gunners may still be in need of reinforcements, but it is fair to say Draxler is not worth the exorbitant amount of money that Paris have paid for the German.
