After snatching a title victory in the 2013-14 season, Manuel Pellegrini was not able to take his team to any form of glory in the previous season. Manchester City finished second in the league last season and went trophy-less. They have a well balanced squad but were not able to better the efforts of Chelsea who themselves had a great season. But with the new arrivals of Sterling, Delph and more, City will want to once again launch a title race in the 2015-16 season. Pellegrini has already said that his side is well balanced and it shows in the quality and depth the squad possess.

With less than two weeks to go for the start of the new season, we will take a look at the best side Manchester City can field in the first game of the new season

Joe Hart has been a regular in between the posts at the club for a few years now. He is relatively unchallenged in this spot with city not having any star stoppers in their squad. Vincent Komapny and Martin Demichelis will be the preferred centre back pairing but Mangala who is slowly getting used to the Premier League may also find his place if Demichelis is not able to live up to his best.

Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabalata will be favorites to start on either flanks. Kolarov and Clichy will provide back-ups to the wing backs in the squad.

Fernando and Fernandinho will share the job of the defensive mid-fielder for Pellegrinis team. Fabian Delph the new signing will find his place in the squad more often than not with the departure of James Milner to the red of Merseyside. Yaya Toure will be the player around which the team will build on. He provides the much needed calm in the middle of the park and will be a major player for Manchester City in the new season.

Fernandinho, Delph and Yaya Toure will form the mid-filed trio for the club and the manager will want them to be at their best for most of the season.

Manchester City has purchased the young winger Raheem Sterling who will play a huge role alongside David Silva in the attacking front. These players will be backed up by Samir Nasri and Jesus Navas on the wings. These four players will interchange all throughout the season and will give Pellegrini different options in attack when in need.

Sergio Aguero will start up front as the striker for City. He has been a consistent performer for City and will want to take his club to a trophy in the new season. Behind Aguero, City has Edin Dzeko, Wifred Bony and newly bought Patrick Roberts. They will also play a major role as City will play close to 50 matches in the new season.

Manchester City have already made themselves one of the most consistent clubs in the league over the last few years. They will want to win trophies every season with the amount of money they spend on the players. It is a club that is still growing in stature and a trophy or two this season will go a long way for the club in cementing their place in the Premier League’s elite.
